Sir Arthur Gilbert and his wife Rosalinde formed one of the world's great decorative art collections, including silver, mosaics, enamelled portrait miniatures and gold boxes. Arthur Gilbert donated his extraordinary collection to Britain in 1996.
On long-term loan to Los Angeles County Museum from 2010.

Brief description
Candelabrum, silver, Paul de Lamerie, 1745-1747.
Physical description
Silver two light candelabra on a shaped circular base decorated with shells and scrolls and chased with a band of rosettes. The baluster stem is chased with scrolls, flowers and matting. The two light branches are of broken scroll form chased and molded with foliage and with baluster-and-flame finials. The base of the candlestick is engraved with a vacant rococo cartouche from which a coat of arms has been erased.
