Sir Arthur Gilbert and his wife Rosalinde formed one of the world's great decorative art collections, including silver, mosaics, enamelled portrait miniatures and gold boxes. Arthur Gilbert donated his extraordinary collection to Britain in 1996.

| Physical description | Each candlestick stands on a shaped square base molded with scrolling foliage and flowers and with three applied freestanding putti. The cylindrical stem is formed as a tree trunk chased with climbing vines and bunches of grapes; similar ornament is applied around the sockets. The detachable nozzles are chased with vine leaves. |
