This wooden powder horn is decorated with a mosaic of pieces of buffalo horn, mother of pearl and ivory set into lac, a natural resin, and has silver and brass mounts. It is typical of the late 19th century industry of Etawah, in Kota, Rajasthan and was formerly owned by Lord Curzon, Viceroy of India from 1899 to 1905, who bequeathed it to the museum in 1927.
