Object history
Library's copy B. Previously Beatrix Potter's own copy. First edition (20,000 copies printed in October 1903) with a single-page endpaper design occurring four times. [See Linder, Leslie. A history of the writings of Beatrix Potter (Frederick Warne, 1971, 1987), p.423]. Acquired by the V&A from Leslie Linder (1904-1973) in 1973 as part of the Linder Bequest, a collection of ca. 2150 watercolours, drawings, literary manuscripts, correspondence, books, photographs, and other memorabilia associated with Beatrix Potter and her family.
