Object history
These baby clothes are said to have been worn by the children of Sir Thomas Remington, of Lund in the East Ridings, Yorkshire, and his wife, Hannah (née Gee). An engraving of a family portrait painted in 1647 showing Thomas and Hannah and their twenty children (including five who died in infancy shown in shrouds) was also donated to the Paintings, Drawings and Paintings department by the donor, Mrs A. M. Rylands. (see E.570-1941)
