Stanley Hall was the leading wig-maker in the post-Second World War period. Hall founded Wig Creations in 1946 and throughout the 1950s, 60s and 70s became the provider of wigs to the theatre, film and television industries.
This hand-mirror was used in the workshop for wig fittings and is a unique object attached to the operations of the UK's leading wig creators.
The Department of Theatre and Performance holds a number of wigs and hair-pieces created by Stanley Hall, including one for Vivien Leigh, worn in the film version of A Streetcar Named Desire (1951).
