Place of origin |
From 2002 until 2005 the cartoonist Martha Richler (Marf) drew daily topical cartoons for the Evening Standard, moving to the 'Londoner's Diary' page in August 2003. Her drawings covered key political and social issues of the period, providing a vivid and humorous response to the main news of the day. Marf made this drawing in April 2008 on the back of a letter to the Director of the V&A. It was made on the spot in the museum, and in the letter she explains: 'Every few minutes, a different person sat in the same seat, near the main information desk. What a wonderful figure-drawing class it was!'
