Place of origin

In 2020 the Covid-10 pandemic had a major impact on the UK live performing arts industry and brought the concert, theatre and festival industry to a virtual standstill. Throughout the year many events were rescheduled, often multiple times, were postponed or cancelled.

In October 2020 British punk band, The Damned, held a press conference at the Round House in North London and, in compliance with the current social distance guidelines, announced that the band would reunite in its original line-up and play four gigs - at venues in London, Birmingham, Glasgow and Manchester - in July 2021. Billed as the first socially distanced press conference, and featuring face masks for all attendees, it received significant press coverage. There was an immediate positive response and, in response to ticket sales, an extra London date was added.

In April 2021 the band announced that the tour would be rescheduled to February 2022 in the wake of the ongoing pandemic.
