Place of origin

Note: this description is for the patterned fabric only and not for the garment.
Tapestry woven wool, twill tapestry; pieced.
One red selvedge with two yellow warp threads is visible along the right hand side of the bodice. Green ground with a diagonal meander travelling from the lower right to the upper left. It has a red stem with branches and blue details and is outlined in orange. However the dense and complex design is best described in bands:
[1] left facing upright botehs with a central white ground and a simple spray of red and blue flowers and green leaves. Slightly above the boteh is a right facing diagonal boteh with a red centre and three blue flowers.
[2] an upright right facing boteh with a green centre and, to the side and slightly above it is a left facing boteh with a black ground edged in red with two flowers and a carnation on a horizontal line.
[3] the meander branches which curl to the right and terminate in a dark red flower head, those which curl to the left end in a composite spray of predominantly dark red and white flowers and a downward pointing yellow boteh.
There are many details including a narrow subsidiary stem in purple edged in yellow which travels diagonally from lower left to upper right.
Warp: green wool
Weft: white, yellow, orange, green, purple, red and blue wool; all S-twist; pink wool, Z-twist; black and violet wool, indeterminable twist.
