This is a gilt bronze medal made by Jean Marende in France in about 1500. The obverse of this medal represents busts of Philibert, Duke of Savoy and his Duchess, Margaret of Austria, and the field partly powdered with daisies and true-love knots. The reverse shows the arms of Savoy and the motto 'FERT.'
Jean Marende was a goldsmith of Bourg-en-Bresse who in 1502 executed a large medal cast in gold of Philibert and Margaret, which was presented to the Princes by the town at their visit there. There are also other specimen in bronze.
