This superbly enamelled scent-flask in a medieval style was made in London by the workshop of Carlo and Arthur Giuliano, the sons of Carlo Giuliano. Their father died in 1895, and they took over the busingess, registering their mark in 1896. the business closed in 1914, following the death of Arthur Giuliano.

Physical description | Cylindrical scent flask, the lid and body has a pattern of octagons decorated in translucent red, green and blue enamel over an engraved ground, interspersed with small squares decorated in opaque white enamel. Black enamel frames all the octagons and squares. The octagons are painted with crosses in opaque white enamel. The top and base are decorated with radiating lobes of translucent blue enamel, each lobe finished with opaque white enamel. The gold rims of the body and the lid are engraved, and similar bands of engraving run around the top and base. |
