Textile Panel

Artist/Maker
Place of origin

Plain weave cotton embroidered with silk in surface darning and running stitch, edged along one side with plain weave pink and white checked cotton.
Black ground with pink and blue pin-wheels inside a red hooked octagonal medallion from which radiate four pink and yellow lines [one towards each corner] and four pairs of curved leaves, two are blue and green and two are yellow and pink with stylised human forms between the leaf pairs. There are parts of large diamonds in the middle of each side of the cover and elongated blue hexagons intersect each diagonal line.
The top and bottom edges have been cut. As there was no border down the side, it is possible that this piece was intended to be joined to other pieces, in which case much more of the pattern lengthwise would be required.
Embroidery threads: 2S silk; black or dark brown, dark green, green, dark red, light red, blue, light blue, yellow and light yellow.
