The tiered skirt is threaded with light blue ribbons which emphasise the different layers. The dress is worn with matching jewellery and gloves.
Norman Hartnell was best known as one of the couturiers to the British royal family. From the late 1940s to the 1970s he designed a wide range of clothes that Princesses Margaret and Elizabeth wore for their official duties.
