1800-1860 (made)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

Plain weave cotton embroidered with silk in straight stitches.
Directional design with the top of the pattern at the bottom of the panel, so that the wearer saw the correct pattern.
The main pattern is a series of diagonal lines from lower right to upper left. These are chevron lines in green and dark blue.
There are two sizes of stripes:
[1] narrow stripes: red ground with a repeating diamond design: 3-petalled flower on yellow and green striped stem outlined in black. This slower points in a different direction in each row.
[2] wider stripes with two designs: [a] diamond shaped flower in pink and yellow outlined in blue on yellow, green and pink diagonally striped stem. It is surrounded by mauve, yellow and pink flowers. Light brown vase placed diagonally and changing position in alternate sections, with a circlet of blue flowers around a single boteh-shaped flower in pink, mauve and yellow. A light blue and blue diagonally striped angled stem outlined with pink with a pink-petalled flower outlined in light blue.
[b] diamond with downward pointing pointed pink flower with light blue and blue centre coming from a yellow and pink vase outlined in light blue; a diamond shaped flower with five small mauve, yellow and pink flowers around it.
The bottom border has pink flowers pointing to the lower right with blue and light blue striped stem alternating with three rows of small blue and pink flowers also pointing to the lower right and a downward pointing spray with three blue, pink and yellow flowers.
Threads: 2S silk: light blue, blue, yellow, dark green, white, red, pink, green, mauve, orange.
