This simple strip of diamonds and sapphires is a fine example of the densely-packed gemstones with minimal platinum settings which typify the diamond jewellery of the Art Deco period.

Oscar Heyman and his brother had been born in Russia and apprenticed in Ukraine before they arrived as immigrants in New York in 1906. He worked for some years for Cartier New York before he and his brother established their own jewellery firm in 1912.
