The designer Meta Overbeck (1879-1956) worked closely with Louis Comfort Tiffany in a distinct workshop within Tiffany & Co. which was dedicated to more experimental and unusual jewellery. Louis Comfort Tiffany, son of the company's founder, had as a young man forged a separate career as an interior designer and glass artist, but in 1907 his independent 'Tiffany Furnaces' became a part of the family firm. Meta Overbeck was the chief designer of this workshop from 1914 until its closure in 1933.
