Gallery label | Decommissioned fire hoses, metal ring-pulls and truck tarpaulins are among some of the most unlikely materials that have been transformed into new bags. This is waste that would otherwise end up in landfill. Swiss brand Freitag has been making messenger bags from recycled truck tarpaulin, used seat-belts and old bicycle-tire inner tubes since 1993. Two British companies, Elvis & Kresse and Bottletop, pledge to reinvest a portion of their profits into charitable projects in addition to their sustainable choice of materials.
