Design: front: white ground scattered with animals, birds and small geometric designs. The largest are two stylised peacocks.

Front border: soumak in red and green.

Front upper: lower band is decorated with coloured diamonds and has three vertical slits; upper band has alternating blocks of brown and white; attached are three loops of green woollen cord probably used to suspend bag.

Back: diaper in dark brown, the lower part in dark red, infilled with blue diamonds.

Warp: white cotton; Z spun multi-ply; 36 threads to the inch (146 per dm).

Weft: foundation: white cotton; Z8S; 22 threads to the inch (90 per dm counted at 27 per 3 cms). Pattern: wool; 11 colours: dark red, red, yellow, green, light green, dark blue, blue, light blue, dark brown, brown, white; soumak technique of weft over CHECK and back under CHECK.

Side finish: both sides have chevron oversewing in yellow and green wool.

End finish: front: folded, stitched into place and decorated with chevron oversewing in red and green wool. Back: folded and decorated with chevron oversewing in dark pink and dark green wool.

Object history
The donor states that this bag was woven by Khaddijeh Bibi, the wife of Salaut ed Dauleh, whose four sons the donor defeated in the Second World War. The bag was used to carry salt in the wedding ceremony.
