In the 1930s Chinese textile manufacturers produced a new item - woven pictures that could be used to decorate the sitting room. The pictures were most probably inspired by contemporary photographs and usually depict well-known scenic spots in China. The caption on this picture says that the scene represents the East Lake in Kuaiqi, Zhejiang province.
