Charles de Temple was the illegimate son of American film actor and director Tom Mix. He was born in 1929 in Mexico. While living in London in the 1960's, he was part of the movement of modern jewellers, along with Andrew Grima, who created abstract, one of a kind jewels for the modern woman.
He was inspired by modern abstract art as well as the forms found in nature and used this inspiration to create abstract, freely worked gold jewels, often set with gemstones. He was part of the fashionable, 'swinging' London scene, notably creating the gold finger seen in the James Bond film Goldfinger, worn by Honor Blackman at the 1964 film premiere. He followed this with a unique wedding ring seen in another James Bond movie, On Her Majesty's Secret Service for Bond's wedding to Tracy (played by Diana Rigg). The ring, designed by de Temple, was made of two colours of gold and spells out the phrase 'All the love in the world'.
