| Object history | This container was part of a group of saris and accessories belonging to Shalaleh Barlow. This piece belonged to her great grandmother, Mahfooz Bano (1898-1951) the niece of the Begum of Bhopal Sultan Jahan who ruled the princely state between 1901 and 1926. It was passed down to her daughter Masood Mumtaz Ali Khan (1918 – 2001), then to her daugter Saraiya Bano and then to her daughter Shalaleh Barlow who, along with her brother Mirza Faisal Anwar Qadir gifted it to the museum. |
