Jug of cream coloured earthenware transfer-printed with black and over-painted with enamels and purple lustre. Bulbous body with a short cylindrical neck with a projecting lip and loop handle. On the front are verses entitled 'Forget me not'. On one side is a print known as the 'Farmer's Arms', inscribed 'GOD SPEED THE PLOUGH' and 'DIXON AUSTIN & CO. SUNDERLAND'. On the other side is 'A West View of the Cast Iron Bridge over the River Wear at Sunderland' with a description. The verses on the front are 'The sailor tost in stormy seas, / Though far his bark may roam, / Still hears a voice in every breeze / That wakens thoughts of home: / He thinks upon his distant friends, / His wife, his humble cot; / And from his inmost heart ascends / The prayer Forget me not!' The interspaces between the prints are painted with rough scrolls in lustre. The description of the bridge reads 'Built by R. Burdon Esqr. M.P. Span 236 feet Height 100 feet Begun 24 Sepr. 1793 Opened 9 Augt. 1796'.
