In 1971 she won the Society of Film and Television Arts Best Actress award for her moving portryal of Edna in Edna the Inebriate Woman. The BBC's Play for Today told the story of a homeless lady with alcohol dependency as she experienced time at a psychiatric ward, prison and series of hostels.
