Vase: Chang Ware Designed by Charles John Noke (British, 1858-1941) and Harry Nixon (British, 1886-unknown) Made by Doulton & Co., Burslem, Great Britain, about 1930 Stoneware with high temperature glaze C.112-1981 Chang Ware, named after the posssibly mythical Song potter, Chang the Elder, was introduced in 1925 by Doulton in response to popular demand for eastern style ceramics. It bears little relationship to Song ceramics in appearance and none in technique but Doulton found the Chinese name a successful marketing ploy.'
