Mansur Gavriel started as a low budget accessory brand in 2013, born from a desire to make stylish products at a medium price point for a post-recession generation. The brand’s subsequent success was based on the huge popularity of its understated 'Bucket' bag made from vegetable-tanned leather. In a similar vein, Manu Atelier’s popularity relied on lower costs, simple designs and the bags being made in a small workshop in Istanbul. Both brands quickly became popular thanks to photographs shared rapidly on Instagram.
