Place of origin

Valse Nobles et Sentimenales to Ravel’s score was choreographed by Frederick Ashton for Sadler's Wells Theatre Ballet and first performed on 1 October 1947. Inspired by Valentine’s Eve created for Rambert in 1935, Frederick Ashton’s new version dispensed with ‘La Ronde-style’ narrative to become a suite of dances. Valse Nobles et Sentimentales retained the claret, rose and pink colour pallet and screens of the original ballet.
