Object history | The angel in the centre is adapted from the poster design 'Easter Number' by Louis Rhead, 1896. Louis Rhead was Frederick Alfred Rhead's brother. The design was copyrighted by the Bacheller Syndicate, the first modern newspaper syndicate in he United States, founded in 1884 by the journalist and novelist Addison Irving Bacheller. The design was featured on the cover of papers such as The Evening Telegraph (example held in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, accession number 41.12.141), The Courant and the Worcester Evening Gazette (examples held in the Boston Public Library). |
