Plate, glazed earthenware, flat base and a wide rim. Transfer-printed in purple with a circus scene of a man in Persian costume and dancing bear. The rim is decorated with scenes of a crowded audience intersected with poles supporting a panoply and, in one section, a clown opening curtains and showing outside a starry sky. The printed pattern is over-painted with green, yellow, brown and red and the edge of the plate is painted with a red stripe as is the slope between the flat base and the rim.

Physical description
Plate, glazed earthenware, flat base and a wide rim. Transfer-printed in purple with a circus scene of a man in Persian costume and dancing bear.
