Two illustrations mounted on card depicting scenes from 'Benito Cereno'. In the first, Don Benito Cereno (captain of ths San Dominick) is standing on a raised platform on his ship with his arms raised above his head. He is wearing clothes in the Spanish style complete with a sombrero; a sword is at his waist. Two slaves can be seen looking up at him; there is also crew member working below. The scene is accentuated with grey watercolour.
In the second illustration, Captain Amasa Delano (captain of the Bachelor's Delight) has boarded the San Dominick for fear that they are in distress. He is wearing a blue coat, sailor's cap and spotted waistcoat. He is speaking with Cereno, with several slaves looking on behind him. The scene is accentuated with blue and tan watercolour.
