Wedding veil

Wedding Veil
1902
Place of origin

Dating to 1902, this veil was worn by Edith Constance Jardine Hope-Murray for her marriage to Mr T. H. Senior on June 18th 1902. The veil was worn with the wedding dress T.260-1990, a silk dress of excellent quality made in the fashionable style by Houghton and Dalton, London, which was donated to the museum in 1990. Echoing the subtle lace appliques which decorate the dress’s bodice and skirt, the veil is a relatively restrained piece, which in conjunction with the dress presents a fashionable - though not extravagant - example of Edwardian fashion. In addition to the wedding dress and veil, the museum also holds the wax orange blossom hair ornament and hair piece worn by the bride (T.260B&C-1990), which would have been arranged on the head in conjunction with the veil.
