Object history | The Potters Art Guild, Compton, Surrey was established inb 1897 with local villagers by Mrs. G. F. Watts (?-1938), widow of the painter, and made large-scale terracotta wares and architectural ceramics (see the Watts mortuary chapel at Compton), as well as small decorative and religious items. Fire destroyed the works in 1923 (see refs for news cuttings). It was restarted and continued in production until 1951. This was given by Mrs. Marion Wood, London. 83/2099 |
