Mug, cylindrical with angular handle. Lead-glazed earthenware, transfer-printed in underglaze brown with a railway-engine (marked 'EXPRESS') drawing coaches through a landscape. The engine and carriages are over-painted in alternately crimson and green enamels. Inside the lip and on the handle, the same brown-painted formal border design of quatrefoils alternating with debased acanthus scrolls.
