Tripod vase (missing cover), black basalt, one of a pair, with applied decoration in low relief. In the form of a semi-ovoid cup supported on a tripod, which has a base with three incurved sides. Round the top is a border of male busts between pairs of sphinxes; the lower part of the cup is decorated with acanthus foliage alternating with lily-stems. The legs of the tripod are decorated with guilloche and foliated patterns and terminate in lions' masks. The base has also a leaf border.
