This ring shows the fashion for jewellery inspired by contemporary archaeological discoveries during the nineteenth century, and a fascination with the art and mythology of Ancient Egypt.

Rings set with stone scarab beetles were first worn by the ancient Egyptians for whom the beetle represented the god of the morning sun, resurrection and immortality.
