This is a bust of a black female, made in Italy. This bust was previously attributed to the workshop of Della Robbia but this is an indeterminate work of poor quality and seems to date from the nineteenth century.

Bust, terracotta, partly painted and partly enamelled, of a black female, Italian, probably 19th century
Physical description
Bust in terracotta, partly painted and partly enamelled. The bust shows a black female looking upwards to the left, wearing a glazed white and purple head-band, a blue dress with a yellow collar and a white under dress. The head(black) and lips(red) are coloured in fired paint. Right side of head and head-band are damaged and made up. Broken through the neck. The black paint added or reinforced after these fractures.
