Romilly Saumarez Smith (born 1954)
In 'Newfoundland' photographer Verdi Yahooda documents maker Romilly Saumarez Smith's transformation of small excavated finds bought on eBay into unique pieces of jewellery. Their forms are inspired by the mosses and lichens Saumarez Smith saw on a trip to Newfoundland in 2001, and their fictional origins are anagrams of the names she gives to each found object: 'heart moths at rest', for example, supposedly found at 'Hetta Roth's Stream.' This copy of the special edition of the book includes a pendant made from a found copper alloy buckle and gold wire.
