Hamish Fulton's images are given meaning through accompanying phrases that specify time, location or distinct features of the landscape. Both these books were published by Coracle, a small press and gallery founded in London in 1975 by poet Simon Cutts. Fulton also records his walks in installations and photographs but reading offers the viewer a particularly intimate window on the experience of walking solitary in the landscape.
