"Carpet - woollen pile, Khorassan, late 19th c."

'They hardly add to our collections on their merits. They will however be very useful to us. The demand for rugs to show with furniture is a steady one. We have lent several rugs to the National Trust (Montacute) and to Aston Hall. Such bodies find it extremely difficult to get rugs and they are only rarely given or bequeathed. I therefore strongly recommend our accepting these eight carpets and three saddlebags."
