Saddle cover of knotted wool pile and cotton.
WARP: cream wool; Z2S; 25 threads per inch (96 per dm); depressed.
WEFT: pink cotton; Z2S with 2 parallel threads per shoot; 2 shoots after each row of knots; 11 knots per inch (45 per dm).
PILE: wool; 8 colours: red, orange, green, dark blue, blue, light blue, purple (faded), white; symmetrical knot tied around 2 threads; 137 knots per sq. inch (2160 per sq. dm).
SIDE FINISH: left: one cord oversewn with dark blue wool. Right: missing
END FINISH: cut. Traces of plain weave along the top centre and left hand slope with pink cotton weft.
DESIGN: field: dark blue ground with central stylised floral sprig, rows of small white stars and surrounding line of small botehs. The field includes a red ground panel at each end also containing stylised floral sprig and yellow stars.
Innermost border: reciprocal horned triangles in red and dark blue reduced to reciprocal single hooks on the sloping sides.
Main border: white ground with floral meander.
Inner and outer borders: red ground with floriate meander.
