Dish

16th Century (made)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

The dish is reserve-painted with flange scrolling and stylised scrolling flowers amidst veined leaves. The centre is busy with a qilin or perhaps a lion with tufted tail. It appears to be balancing itself on a composite lotus spray with flaming leaves and clouds as fillers. Three S-stems with a central leafy peach decorate the outer well. Two small crossed leaves fill the intervals. Two sketchy waves mark the base ring.
