Brief description
Photograph by Dafna Talmor, 'Untitled (JE-12121212-2)', 2015, from the series 'Constructed Landscapes'. C-type handprint made from 4 collaged negatives, size: 34.5” x 46”, on which the photographer has captured landscapes. In her ‘Constructed Landscapes’, Dafna Talmor approaches the subject of landscape photography in a less descriptive, more deconstructive and psychologically charged way. Talmor’s work elegantly deals with a sense of personal displacement. Her environments are fictional though based on real places: collaged and montaged colour negatives culled from different locations and transformed through the physical act of splicing them together. The resulting images create a new space that defies specificity, refers to transience and metaphorically blurs place, memory and time.
