Gallery label
This double-page design for an illustrated nursery rhyme is conceived as a balanced trio of vignettes. On the left Potter suggests the frontage of an inn solely by its two most important features: the sign and the door. Much later she used the right-hand image for the cover of her book Cecily Parsley’s Nursery Rhymes (1922).(March 2019)
