Plain weave cotton embroidered with silk in cross stitch backed with woven silk and faced with bias-cut silk and cotton.
White ground with alternating rows of:
[1] red 8-pointed stars with 4 'arms' whirling in a light blue or white contral lozenge, separated by a vertical dark blue cartouche form with a red S-shape.
[2] a smaller red 8-pointed star with a green 4 armed whirl separated by a horizontal dark blue cartouche with a red S-shape in between yellow or pale green L-shaped bars.
The narrow border around two sides is light green decorated with stylised red leaf forms alternating with white or yellow centred octagons. All the motifs are outlined in black.
Embroidery threads: 2S silk; white, black, red, green, dark blue, light blue, yellow, faded pink.
Backing: pieced; silk; blue and green chevron pattern.
Facing: striped silk and cotton: red, yellow, green, light blue, white, black.
