Inscribed 3 hours from Lowra country very grand and with colour notes. Inscribed F.C. Lewis and with title on separate sheet pasted on to album page beneath the drawing.

Historical context
Lowran is near Tehran. In 1836 Lewis was invited to Tehran by Sir John McNeill, Envoy and Minister Plenipotentiary to the Shah. He travelled there via Trebizond (Trabzon), Erzurum and Tabriz with Robert Macdonald: see Macdonald, Personal Narrative of Military Travel and Adventure in Turkey and Persia, Edinburgh, 1859, pp.90-3 et passim. SD.579:2-4, 7 & 8 are dated between August and November 1836.
