Poster advertising Art at the Old Vic Theatre, 2016. Art is a French comedy by Yasmina Reza, about three long-time friends: Serge, Marc and Yvan. The plot raises questions about art, friendship, prejudice, and tolerance. An English-language translation of the play by Christopher Hampton opened at Wyndham's Theatre in 1996, directed by Matthew Warchus, winning the 1997 Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Comedy. From December 2016 to February 2017 the production was revived at The Old Vic to celebrate its 20th anniversary. The V&A recorded a performance of this production for the National Video Archive of Performance.
