'SHELL CHAIR' Designed by Hans Wegner (Danish, born 1914) Manufactured by Fritz Hansens, Copenhagen, Denmark Teak veneer over plywood (seat and back), beech (frame) about 1948 Wegner is one of the most distinguished of modern Danish cabinetmaker/designers. This chair is one of his least known designs and destinguished [sic] by its sculptural use of large, molded sheets of plywood for seat and back. It was purchased by the donors in Copenhagen in 1950. Given by Kathe and John Morton W.1-1989(1989-2006)
