The Museum felt that this design was so distinguished that it asked the Directors of Cassina S.p.A. if they would present an example to the V. & A. - to which proposal they very generously agreed. The design is a significat expression of Post-Modernism, for, while borrowing features from designs of the late 1950s (the upholstery) and the late 1970s (the metal legs), a novel synthesis has been created that seems to point the way towardsa whole new style. The Museum is delighted to be able to include this handsome creation in its permanent collections. Museum No. W.44-1983
