'VERDE 700' OFFICE CHAIR Designed by Simo Heikkila (Finnish, born 1943) and Yrjö Wiherheimo (Finnish, born 1941), 1978-9 Made by Vivero Oy, Helsinki, Finland Tubular steel frame, metal springs, metal and plastic fittings, laminated birch and upholstery 1979-80 The Verde range was designed to provide work for redundant workers from non-furniture industries, using existing machinery in existing factories. Manufacturing effort was to be kept to a minimum. Design was thus driven primarily by an attitude to technology rather than by an analysis of market forces. Given by Vivero Oy. W.7-1981(1989-2006)
