Historical context | Girardet exhibited a work entitled Une Chadouf sur le Nil at the Salon in 1845, with another Egyptian subject. A Shaduf or shadoof was a device for lifting water from a water-source to irrigation channels, and frequently seen on the banks of the Nile. |
