Dessert dishes , cut Britain, mid-19th century Gift of Rev. J. Williamson (491 to 493-1905) Cut glass was the staple of high-class Victorian glass manufacturers. This service exemplifies the qualities that the critic Ruskin railed against. He called such cutting 'barbarous', because it treated glass like rock-crystal and disguised the true qualities of glass and its origin as a molten material.
